Dance Performances, Recitals & Competitive Dance Experiences in Killingworth, CT At Back Stage Dance Center, performance is an important part of many dancer’s journeys. Families can choose the performance opportunities that best fit their goals and schedules, including our annual recital, competitive dance events, and community performances. We believe performance experiences can help dancers develop poise, teamwork, responsibility, stage presence, and a deeper appreciation for the performing arts. While many students enjoy performing, participation in the annual recital is optional for all dancers and families. Annual Dance Recital Our annual dance recital is a celebration of everything our dancers have learned throughout the season. Family and friends are invited to watch students showcase their hard work, creativity, and progress in a professional performance setting. Recital Highlights Held annually on the Sunday prior to Memorial Day Weekend Features dancers from a variety of age groups and programs Provides valuable stage experience in a supportive environment Creates lasting memories for dancers and families Participation is optional For many dancers, the recital is a highlight of the year and an exciting opportunity to perform for family, friends, and the community. Competitive Dance Team Performances Members of the BSDC Dance Team participate in multiple performance and competition opportunities throughout the dance season. Dance Team Opportunities Include: A minimum of four regional dance competitions each season Advanced performance experience Team-building and leadership opportunities Exposure to a variety of performance venues and audiences Optional national dance competition participation Our competitive dancers continue to strengthen their technique, artistry, confidence, and professionalism through these valuable experiences. Community Performance Opportunities In addition to recitals and competitions, Back Stage Dance Center offers special pop-up performance opportunities throughout the year when available. Past performance experiences have included: Performing at Mohegan Sun Arena Community events and celebrations Local nursing home performances Toys for Tots charity events Additional special performance opportunities throughout the Connecticut Shoreline These experiences allow dancers to share their talents while connecting with and giving back to the community.
